Resources for Racers

Captains (including Visiting and non-member Captains): To race, fill out the Race Registration Form .

Please note that all Captains and boats must be registered prior to racing.

Crew: If you are interested in being an alternate for crewing in our races, please visit our Member Forum. Once you register, you will see a private board called ”Alternates for Race Program Crew” in the “Member Connections” category. This board is only visible to registered members of the forum (only PYC members). Here, you can post your information so the captains can consider you for crewing opportunities. If you can’t navigate the Member Forum, please complete the Crew Registration Form.

  • Check in procedure for all races:

    • The L Flag will be displayed when the Race Committee is ready for boats to check in.

    • Boats should sail by the committee boat’s stern on a starboard tack and check in. Also, boats can check in via VHF radio Channel 72.

    • The Race Committee will not answer any check-ins prior to the L flag being displayed.

  • Starting Sequence: The race committee will announce on VHF channel 72 that the Starting Sequence will start in about one minute; the first horn and display of the Class flag will indicate the start of the Rule 26 five minute Starting Sequence. (There will not be a one-minute warning of short horns to the Starting Sequence).

  • Verbal Communication with Racers: Prior to the start of the race, the race committee will not answer questions from racers regarding information published in the NOR&SI and on the PYC website.

2024 PYC Racing Chart and Buoy Coordinates

Updated August 7, 2024

The revisions are as follows: Buoy B was relocated from its Truro location to Provincetown Harbor, just South of the East end of the breakwater to form a triangle with Buoys A and D; buoy H is in Truro at the same location as Buoy B was in the previous chart; “(nun)” was added to further identify CG1 and “(can)” was added to further identify CG2.
