Member Forum

We have a few avenues of communication with the PYC member community:

  • This website – with continually updated information about our Events and Race program

  • A mailing list – where we send announcements to the membership. Members are added to this list upon joining.

  • A Facebook page – where we post updates and photos.

  • New for the 2024 season! A Member’s Forum where members can communicate with one another!

Information about the PYC Member’s Forum

Until now, PYC communications have all been via email. That is, the officers of the PYC have been able to send emails to the membership. However, there has not been a systematic way for members to communicate to one another. For example, to find crew, offer items for sale, etc. To remedy this, we have created a Member Forum. It acts like an online bulletin board. To see our forum, go to: https://ptownyachtclub.freeforums.net/

Once there, you will see several public Categories (General, Member Connections, Classified Ads). Within each Category are Boards. For example, in the General category there are the following Boards:

  • Announcements from the forum administrator

  • General Discussion

  • PYC Racing Program Club

  • Sponsored Events

  • Tips for the Using the PYC member forum

Anyone can see those public boards, but you must be a registered user of the forum to post new threads.

After you register and login, you will see additional private Categories and Boards. As a convenience, their title indicates that they are private. These categories and boards are not visible to anyone who has not logged in to the member forum. Therefore, they will only be visible to PYC members.

  • In the Private Boards category, there are two boards. One is for discussion that should only be visible to members (not to anyone on the web) and one is where we plan to post a membership directory.

  • There is an additional private board for members to post their interest in being considered an alternate crew member for the race program.

To Join the Member’s Forum

You must register (create an account) in order to post threads and view the private boards. The registration link is in the upper right corner of the forum site. Once you complete the registration process, the forum admin must approve your request before your registration will be complete. This is a manual process and we are volunteers, please be patient if it takes several days for us to approve your request.  See this document for tips on registering your account.
